Cassiah is an award-winning writer for both her work on stage and screen, selected for the BRIT List 2024.
Cassiah has had her theatre work staged at the New Diorama Theatre, Greenwich Theatre, Katzpace, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2016, Cassiah's debut play 'Under My Thumb 'was a finalist in the Red Women Theatre Awards, and then was nominated for Best New Play at the New South Writing Awards in 2017. In 2019, previews of Cassiah's play 'London With A Perfect Skyline' premiered at Katzpace, London Bridge, and in 2023, 'London With A Perfect Skyline' made the top 20% in the Royal Court Theatre literary submissions. Most recently, Cassiah wrote a new play 'MENTAL' as part of an R&D with Culture Clash Theatre, commissioned by Arts Council Funding. The project was supported by Greenwich Theatre, Cambridge Junction, Battersea Arts Centre, and Tara Arts.
Cassiah has also been a BBC New Creative, commissioned for her first audio drama in 2020 which broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra in July 2021. She also came in the top 2% in the BBC Script Room Drama 2021 (and came in the top 3.5% in 2018) and her feature spec For My Mother was a Finalist in the West Field Screenwriting Awards 2018.
Cassiah recently finished a short film script commission for LAMDA and is currently writing Catch a Butcher (the feature) with BFI. She has a number of feature and TV ideas available for development - please get in touch if you would like to see any of her work.
